question about IC internet acess

Solomon doesn't live in the chantry anymore and that's where he was posting from. I just realized I don't know if he would have access now. The public library thing doesn't quite work all the time cause I mean are they really all open that late? Second there is the video camera issue seeing what he actually looks like.

I'm also curious how anyone with pretty much no resources at all could post most of the time. ICly it doesn't make sense that some posts are during the middle of the day or just at many hours of the night. So I was just wondering how that all works.

Solomon does have a laptop but he'd still have to pay for internet access somehow. Internet seems something many of us as players take for granted but ICly it may need to be looked at differently. As a human I can post when I wish, the sun wont kill me. But Vampires can't do that. They can't even really stay away too well during the day. But it was mostly just a access and pay issue I had for Solomon.

There are a lot of places, cafes and so on, in Sacramento that are open very late or even all night that have free wireless internet. He could easily camp out obfuscated in an alley nearby and leech their wireless. Alternately, he could fly around and look for someone who hasn't secured their home wireless. Those people still exist -- they're just hard to find. But Solomon has the advantage of flight and invisibility.

All in all, I think he'd have no problem finding somewhere to get online.

Yeah, we really haven't dealt with that issue. Of course it's a ST decision but as Michelle says there are lots of ways to get on the net. Imo, if we really wanted to be sticklers, yeah we could bother about the post times but that might be taking it a bit far. Obviously, we have to balance the IC nature of the posts with the playability of the game. I vote for the playability... Good question though. Hmm, maybe Solomon should throw some chops. Ha!

It wasn't all about Solomon though. What about other chars who come in who have like NO money at all? Not even resources 1. How would they really be able to post? Internet access is taken for granted in many games. If your char really wouldn't have internet access it probably should be RPed that you don't. Thus no Forum access yet. (I also have ZERO idea how the hell you leech wireless and wouldn't your PC have to be wireless?)

Yar, wireless needed. You can leech from any McDonalds, LaBou, Public Library, Starbucks, etc... For example I can sit outside the library and get wireless, or sit in Cesare Chavez Plaza and get Starbucks or LaBou. Roofs would be fine. Again, all good questions. If needed, I'm sure the ST team will chime in. I can see scenarios where it can be a source of role playing.

All netbooks have wireless cards in them. If a character can buy, beg, borrow, or steal a netbook, they've got wireless access. If you've got wireless on your laptop/netbook, it's easy to connect to any open wireless network. Internet is taken for granted these days in part because it's easy to get if you're willing to go out to places to look for it.
