• How did you spend your early years—the period when your basic motivations and attitudes were forged?
• Where did you go to school?
• Who were your parents?
• Were you adopted?
• Did you travel?
• What was high school like?
• Did you go to college?
• Did you even go to school?
• Did you run away from home?
• Any sports?

TYPE OF PERSON
• Were you a good person?
• Were you bad?
• What dreams of the future did you have?
• Were you popular?
• Did you have a family or live alone?

FIRST VAMPIRE
• When did you first realize that you were being stalked?
• What made you first believe that vampires did exist?
• What did you feel? Scared? Mad?

EMBRACE
• Was the embrace painful?
• Did you get a kinky pleasure out of it?
• Did the hunger tear at you?
• What were your first emotions during & after the embrace?
• Do you regret anything?
• Were you abandoned after the embrace?

SIRE
• Was your sire brutal? Arrogant? Wise?
• What did you know about him/her?
• Did you get along with your sire?

• Do you have to make adjustments for daylight?

FEEDING GROUNDS
• What type of human do you like to feed on?
• What location do you like?
• Do you have domain to feed in?
• Is your favorite hunting ground used by others?
• Do you have to compete to feed?
• Have you ever killed while feeding?

MOTIVATIONS
• Do you have any enemies?
• Anyone you wish to seek vengeance on?

• What is it that you search for most avidly?

Here are some good storyline themes to consider for your character along with some questions to think about:

Love
• How does love affect our actions, thoughts & moods?
• What would we sacrifice for love?
• Can love be retrieved after it’s lost?
• Does love endure/

Hate
• How does hate manifest itself in our lives?
• How does the seed of hate take root?
• To what acts does it drive us?

Betrayal
• Why do we betray people and things we love or are sworn to protect?
• What price does betrayal exact on our consciences and souls?
• How does it feel to be betrayed?

Revenge
• Is revenge best served hot or cold?
• How does revenge distort our perceptions and provoke our emotions?

Rebellion
• What promotes us to rebel?
• How do we choose the targets of rebellion?
• Is rebellion always necessary to effect change?
• Can rebellion occur without violence or bloodshed?

Morality
• Who or what determines mortality?
• Who are the keepers of morals and ethics?
• Are these things even necessary?
• Are there morals that transcend individuals, cities, nations, or worlds?

Chaos
• Why do things tend to fall apart?
• Doesn’t anything last?
• Is chaos sometimes necessary?
• How do we handle chaos?

Other character thoughts to think about:
• Is the character pursing his/her goals actively?
• Is the character hoarding information that should be shared? Why?
• Is the character refusing to interact with others? Why?
• Did the character miss one or more vital clues in a situation?
• Is the character achieving his/her goals too easily? Why?
