Calling an Elder Council

Revered Elders,

Next Gathering at courts conclusion, I would like a gathering of Elders to be convened to address the policies of the Arbiter, and how we might better be able to accommodate them.

It would seem a great deal is changing, and possibly for the best. Let us see if we can find a way to accomplish the task set before us concerning Jackson, yet not violate the word of Law the Arbiter has established.

I want to give the Elders of this city a chance to speak their minds in a forum amongst their peers. A place without fear of retribution, and an opportunity to come to terms in such a manner that will not put strain upon the patience of our Arbiter.

As his title clearly defines, let us work out what we can, and give him the opportunity to Arbitrate what we can not.

I request that the Elders of this city come prepared to address their issues, and be ready to listen to the concerns of others. That's all.

The 'meeting' you're describing comes in three flavors: 'A waste of my fucking time', 'A podium for you to whine/grandstand about something', or 'Both'.

Which is fine, I guess. The one thing we vampires have a surplus of is time, and I got some great games on my phone. But it might be more productive to define what the fuck you want us to stand up and say. What issues are we discussing, specifically? Why can't they be discussed here, where I can post in my underwear?

And most important: Any chance we can wait to do this 'till after Jackson? I've got a lot on my plate getting set up for that.

I have no objection to the creation of a forum specifically tailored to the Elders of the Clans. I agree that it is most often among ones peers that one feels most honest and most comfortable. Regardless, this shall be the last time I look at this thread, whether a private forum is established for the Elders or not.

Vai, If you feel you're too busy i completely understand. I'll take the minutes of the meeting so you can be properly briefed.

I've already called the meeting. Sorry, it should be brief, and obviously if I am to be General I will need an opportunity to assess the contributions thus far and make changes to the plans as I see fit. Which is of course not the sole reason for the meeting.

Lastly, I'm glad you do not disapprove Marius, as I'm sure you're aware your approval is not necessary, but certainly appreciated.

The meeting will be face to face. I hear their are those within this city whom have not yet created an account upon this forum, and further more...the written word can sometimes fail to convey a person's feelings properly. I don't think we want the most influential body of kindred within this city to be misunderstood.

I don't disapprove of Marius -- I said as much when I voted for him, as you'll recall. But I didn't say anything about it when I noted that meetings with no defined subject usually turn out to be colossal wastes of time.

Anyway, I'll be there. If listening to you carry on about how much Marius sucks keeps me from getting shit done to help for Jackson, that's no skin off my nose. You're the General, after all, and if Jackson's not at the top of your priority list, there's no reason it should be at the top of mine.

OOC: And in this, we have a problem. I've got a birthday party to go to this coming Saturday, and I know that Christine is going to be absent as well. However, ICly, Vai would absolutely not miss this meeting unless she were in torpor or being held prisoner or something.

As for a forum, are you talking about a forum on this board? Just to let you know, all city officers and clan leaders have access to the "City Officer" forums. That would be a good place to talk outside the normal everybody can see area.

I can only hope that we will have the opportunity to speak either during this meeting, or prior to, as I owe you a sincere apology. I will of course explain when we have the opportunity to speak in person, but...well, i fully support this elder's counsel idea.

It is difficult to provide an exact time/date for the Council meeting. Once Marius has called a gathering, and the Keeper has informed me of the location, and time that Marius wishes court to be called...then I can provide a time. However, since we are given very little prior notice as to a gatherings location, and start time, I'm sure you can see my dilemma.

We will be gathered soon, and when we have the opportunity we'll start our meeting.

Why doesn't someone just host us outside of court gathering time? I mean, there's no need to be chained to the Arbiter's arbitrary decision to call court and where to call court.

I'd volunteer, but I doubt you guys would enjoy the meeting place I can provide.

I apologize to the Revered members of this council for not making proper arrangements sooner.

As it was I that called for this meeting, It would be quite rude of me not to host the gathering. If it pleases the council, I will rent a home within my domain, and provide the address to all those that will be attending.

Although it is unfortunate that Jordy will not be able to attend, his absence creates a unique opportunity. Since our Keeper of Elysium will be in attendance during this gathering on Jordy's behalf, I will provide him with the address prior to anyone else, and humbly request he deems the building a Temporary Elysium. If he deems the building secure enough, it will be granted all rights and protections that Elysium provides until the conclusion of the evenings meeting.

Rest assured I will not offend you with any misguided attempts at providing entertainment or refreshment. I trust you all can provide for your own needs before arriving, and this is a business meeting, not a party.

As a show of respect, please do not bring any ghouls, retainers, or snacks.
